Justine Lackey began her professional career in 1994, working at the @ Café, the first Internet café in New York City where she was the Executive Events Coordinator. She was responsible for arranging major public relations events for companies launching their web sites or software. Projects included the launch of sites for the New York Times, Spin Magazine, Boss Models, Budweiser, and the introduction of software forWindows 95, Java, and various other technology products. She also hosted Bill Gates' interview on MTV, as well as politician Jerry Browns' first live Internet chat.
Following the @ Café, and throughout 1996-1997, Justine worked for Techline Studios, as a general administrative assistant and bookkeeper. It was here where she acquired the skills and information needed to create a full charge bookkeeping system for any type of business. During these years she began to freelance, assisting local artists with minor accounting and office administration.
In 1997, through the encouragement and demand of her small client base, and professional accounting and legal colleagues, Justine transitioned from being an employee to an entrepreneur. Her personal interest in the arts, design, and fashion has lead her to cater her company's services almost to exclusively artists. Good Cents has worked with fashion photographers and stylists, choreographers, graphic artists, fashion illustrators, fine artists, interior designers and nonprofit organizations. Her intensive background in these industries makes her uniquely positioned to service artists with an insider perspective. In September of 2007, Justine became a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. This certification is issued to individuals who pass an examination certifying their expertise in using QuickBooks Pro, one of the most popular accounting software programs in use today.
Since the creation of her company, Justine Lackey has had the privilege of working for talented artists and companies such as: Jack Pierson, Victoria Bartlett, Jerry Schwartz of House of Schwartz, Pandiscio Inc, Mark Carasquillo, Lisa Marie Fernandez, Bill "Crutchmaster" Shannon, Kaja Gam Design, Inc., Phillip Poynter, Spencer Tunick, Tobie Giddio, Yele Haiti and The Ferro-Grumley Literary Awards.
While Justine loves to pretend she is all business, she lives a double life as a doting mother and wife. When times allows she participates in various charitable projects and community oriented events. After retiring as a professional Brooklyn dweller, she now lives in a cottage in the woods of the Hudson Valley.
